Cost: $30 + $10 membership fee for the 2020/2021 fiddling season

*All participants need to be members which are $10 annually.

As an alternative to our traditional weekend workshops, we will be holding a series of two - 2-hour classes to be held on subsequent weekends at Music Space.

There will be classes at the following levels:

First-time fiddlers:

You are a first- time fiddler if you have never played the fiddle before, or if you have played before but would like to start from the VERY beginning of learning how to hold the instrument and play it.

Beginner fiddlers:

You are a beginner fiddler if you can play a handful of tunes such as Liza Jane, Old Joe Clark, Cripple Creek, and Cock o’ the North.  Beginner fiddlers have the ability to play their instruments at a basic level, and have likely attended a couple of workshops.

Intermediate/Advanced fiddlers:

You are an intermediate/advanced fiddler if you are very comfortable playing your instrument.  You might have some issues with your playing (such as stiffness or the occasional squeak) but you can navigate your instrument quite well on all four strings.  Intermediate/advanced fiddlers usually know plenty of tunes, often upwards of 15.

Dates and times:

Level: First-time fiddlers

Time: 1:30 to 3pm

      Sunday, April 18 & 25

Level: Beginner fiddlers

Time: 1:30 to 3:30pm

      Saturday, April 17 & 24

Try before you buy!  AFS has a small selection of fiddles for use during the workshops and/or to rent afterward (please email us in advance).  Before you shell out for your own strings, see how easy it is to fall in love with the fiddle at an upcoming workshop.  Check out our rental page for details.

Members Only!  Luckily, it's incredibly easy to sign up.  Complete our membership form, tack on $10 to our workshop fees, and you're in.  You'll be first to know about upcoming programs and events, and you'll also be helping our small community flourish.
